S.O 327………..(E) ……..- Whereas the Central Government, after considering the recommendations made to it by the Standing Advisory Committee, had directed by order S.O.526 (E) dated the 1st July, 1999, the commodities specified in column 2 of the Schedule of that order, shall be packed in jute packaging material, for supply or distribution, in such minimum percentage as specified in the corresponding entries in columns (3) of the said Schedule;

And, whereas the Standing Advisory Committee has, in view of strike in the jute industry in the State of West Bengal, recommended for amendment of percentage of total production of commodity or class of commodities required to packed in jute packaging material;

And , whereas, the Central Government, after considering the recommendations made to it by the Standing Advisor Committee, is satisfied that it is necessary so to do in the interest of engaged in the production thereof, directed to and the percentage of total production of commodity or class of commodities required to be packed in jute packaging material specified in the order No.S.O.No526(E) dated 1st July, 1999.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Jute Packaging Materials ( Compulsory Use in Packing Commodities) Act, 1987 (10 of 1987), the Central Government hereby directs the following amendments be made in order 526(E) dated 1st July, 1999, namely:-

In the said order, in the Schedule, in column 3,
(i) Against Sl.No. 1 relating to commodity "Foodgrains" for the words " hundred percent", the words "Ninety percent" shall be substituted;
(ii) Against Sl.No.2 relating to commodity "Sugar", for the words "Hundred percent", the words " Ninety percent" shall be substituted;
(iii) Against Sl.No.3 relating to the commodity "Fertilizer (Urea only)", for the words "Twenty percent", the words "Fifteen percent" shall be substituted.
