Established by the Ministry of
Textiles, Government of India in 1986, the National Institute of Fashion
Technology (NIFT) has emerged as a premier educational institute in the
country to train professionals who will meet the requirements of the
industry pertaining to apparel as well as fashion accessories and
lifestyle products.
NIFT is a college of Design, Management and Technology that acts
as a nodal agency facilitating greater interface between professional
design education and industry. It imparts knowledge and training
comparable to prevailing international standards with the purpose of
transforming an essentially mercurial business into an economically
profitable proposition.
NIFT spreads its wings by introducing courses in different parts of the
country. NIFT centres at Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Calcutta, Hyderabad and
Chennai were started in the year 1995 and a
centre
at Bangalore in 1997, bridging the gap between NIFT and the local
garment industry.
NIFT offers the best in international education with regular inputs
from industry professional and experts. It has technical collaboration
with the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York and Nottingham
Trent University, UK. The institute has opened its doors to the best in
educational research and training.
