NCSU's College Of Textiles

College of Textiles at North Carolina State University is a modern and well-equipped textile institution in the world - serving the needs of industry and educating the workforce of the future. It is the largest university-based textiles program in the world. More than half the nation’s textile degree recipients hold degrees from North Carolina State’s College of Textiles. The college offers one of only three accredited Textile Engineering programs in the country.

State-of-the-art facilities at North Carolina State’s Centennial Campus, built in 1991, are valued at $50 million. On Centennial Campus, the college has led North Carolina State’s efforts to increase partnerships with government and industry, including ground-breaking research in the NASA-sponsored Mars Mission Research Center, where unique, specialized, three-dimensional braiding and weaving machines create space-age fibers and fabrics.

The college has increased applied research and aid to the textile industry with its Model Manufacturing Facility. It has also expanded into areas that address environmental issues, enabling students to learn more about energy-efficient systems for manufacturing facilities. Because of the strong emphasis on research, development, and management in the textile industry, the College of Textiles has produced graduates who command some of the highest starting salaries and placement rates among North Carolina State University graduates. In the past 12 years, annual research expenditure has grown at the college from $500,000 to $7 million.
