The Fashion Institute of
Technology is located in the heart of Manhattan. Each year more than
1,500 corporations offer internships to FIT students. The institute has
registered 88 percent placement rate for students who enroll for
services.
FIT students are trained by professionals whose careers and course work
go hand in hand. They train the students with a difference- far beyond
the theoretical.
Instructors who work alongside their jobs at the institute share their
experiences with the students thus giving them an insight into the
industry as such. The institute welcomes any of the instructors'
inclination to work if they are not working already. A practicum program
allows instructors to return to full- or part-time jobs in their fields
for a semester. When they rejoin their students, they adapt their
curricula in such a way so as to reflect industry trends.
Industry-sponsored contests and projects are held at the institute from
time to time
providing
the students an opportunity to showcase their abilities while giving
them the practical knowledge needed to pursue careers after graduation.
Renowned fashion designers serve as critics to students and help them
in preparing for end-of-semester fashion shows. Frequent
student-designer contact throughout a semester helps students take
designs from concept to reality.
