Two New Products From BASF- Quadris HTS, Pixel

Quadris HTS

Quadris HTS™ is a new solution-dyed product that eliminates the need to air-entangle or twist multiple solid yarns to obtain a multicolor product. The Quadris HTS system mixes color streams at the extruder, producing up to four colors in one extruded yarn. Quadris HTS eliminates the standard multicolor process, air entangling or twisting can be ruled out -- Quadris HTS can be directly tufted right out of the package.

At 2500 denier, Quadris HTS permits fine-gauge fabrics to be produced at extremely low weights and still offer the high performance required in commercial settings. It is ideal for the education, retail, healthcare, hospitality and transportation markets. In level loop form, Quadris HTS yarn can be tufted at gauges of 5/64", 1/10", 1/8" or 1/4" at 16 to 26 ounces per square yard. In cut pile form, the preferred gauges are 1/16", or 1/10" at 18 to 28 ounces, and in twist ply form, the ideal construction is 1/10" or 1/8" gauge, 24 to 28 ounces.

Quadris HTS has a primary color bank of 35 shades, providing wide styling opportunities.

As a Zeftron 2000® solution-dyed product, carpet made from Quadris HTS yarn will carry BASF's 10-year stain removal guarantee, 10-year colorfast warranty, 10-year fiber loss warranty and an anti-shock warranty. It will also qualify for the BASF 6ix Again® Recycling Program, the industry's first comprehensive recycling program that provides an ecologically sound alternative to disposing of commercial carpet in landfills.

Pixel
BASF's Pixel® solution-dyed yarn, with a "Pointillistic" space-dyed look, has already been successful in Europe and Asia. Now several major BASF customers have picked up Pixel for the U.S. and are actively developing styles for market introduction. In this case, BASF's patented jet technology assembles solution-dyed filament nylon in a unique way. Until now, mills had to use post-dyeable yarn to create a space-dyed visual effect, thus sacrificing performance.
It provides the space-dyed look in a solution-dyed product. The healthcare market has the best use for this product -- customers can bleach away infectious spills without bleaching away the color. It is a low-cost yarn that can be tufted on any current equipment.

Pixel also uses BASF's Zeftron 2000® yarn, carrying all the performance characteristics and warranties of that line, and will be available in nearly unlimited color combinations. It is available in three-, four-, and six-ply combinations within a bundle and can be tufted at 26 to 42 ounces.
