Colouring methods for nylon, Production of Polyester resins

Colouring methods for nylon

Dupont describes a method for preparing coloured polyamide fibres which contain poly carbonates and claims an improved process for production of coloured nylon fibres. About 0.1 to 3 percent of polycarbonate is added to any lonmelt before extruding the melt through a spinneret. Dupont also claims hollow nylon filaments and yarns and process for manufacturing the same.

Production of Polyester resins

Baxenden Chemicals has developed a revolutionary new patented process of the production of the polyester resins used as polyols in the manufacture of polyurethanes. Called Xenols, the resins are based on conventional raw materials such as adopic acid, 1,4-butanidiol,and 1,6-hexanidiol. They have an extremely narrow molecular weight distribution with significantly improved resistance to hydrolysis.

The high crystalline polyesters have a very sharp melting point and can be polymerised to high molecular weights, unlike conventional polester polyols. Applications include the manufacture of thermoplastic polyurethanes, moisture curing polyurethane adhesives, hot melt adhesives, surface coatings, binders, encapsulants, and textile coatings.
