New process for spun fibre, lyocell fibre treatment method

New process for spun fibre

Courtaulds PLC claims to have developed a process for reducing the fibrillation tendency of solvent spun cellulose fibre. A dyed, solvent-spun cellulose fibre is prepared by applying to solvent-spun cellulose fibre a chemical reagent having 2-6
functional groups reactive with cellulose, under alkaline conditions, whereby the reagent does not contain a chromophore, and a dye selected from azo, fibre-reactive sulphur or vat dyes. The fibre is heated to produce a reaction between the fibre and the function al group, thereby imparting a reduced fibrillation tendency to the dyed fibre.

Lyocell fibre treatment method

Courtaulds Fibres ( Holdings ) Ltd. too has developed lyocell fibre treatment method. The fibrillation tendency of lyocell regenerated cellulose fibres can be reduced by reaction in the never-dried state at an elevated temperature with a solution of a chemical reagent having several acrylamido groups, the number of these groups/molecule of the reagent in the solution being at least 2.1.
